Frequently asked questions
Quick answers for buyers, sellers, and marine businesses.
Private sellers
How do I create a private listing?
Select Sell, sign in or create an account, complete the listing steps, add your media, and submit the vessel for review.
Why is my listing awaiting review?
Private-seller listings are reviewed before publication. This helps protect marketplace quality and gives you an opportunity to correct anything that needs attention.
Can I edit a published listing?
Yes. Open My listings, select Edit, make your changes, and publish the update. You can also change its status or mark the vessel as sold.
How do buyers contact me?
Buyer inquiries are stored with your listing and sent to the email address associated with your Vessel Star account.
Brokers
How does a brokerage join Vessel Star?
Submit the broker business application. We aim to review complete applications and contact the applicant within two business days.
Can a brokerage have multiple brokers and administrators?
Yes. Brokerage members can be assigned as an administrator, a broker, or both. Every brokerage must retain at least one administrator.
Can listings be assigned to individual brokers?
Yes. Approved brokerage members with the Broker role can create and manage broker-attributed inventory.
Can we display Vessel Star inventory on our website?
Yes. Approved brokerages can generate a secure, filterable inventory integration for their own website.
Dealers
How does a dealership join Vessel Star?
Submit the dealer business application. We aim to review complete applications and contact the applicant within two business days.
Who manages dealership listings?
Dealership members are administrators. Listings belong to the dealership rather than being assigned to an individual salesperson.
Can a dealer have more than one administrator?
Yes. A dealership can have multiple administrators, but it must always retain at least one.
Can we display Vessel Star inventory on our website?
Yes. Approved dealers can generate a secure, filterable inventory integration for their own website.
Buyers and other marine businesses
How do I contact a seller?
Open the vessel listing and select Contact seller. Your inquiry is sent to the private seller, dealer, or brokerage responsible for that listing.
Can I save vessels and searches?
Yes. Sign in to save vessels and searches. Saved searches can notify you when matching inventory is published.
Which marine businesses can apply?
Manufacturers, marinas, surveyors, detailers, repair businesses, restoration and paint companies, and upholstery and canvas businesses can apply for a professional profile.
Does Vessel Star provide payment or escrow services?
No. Vessel Star connects buyers and sellers but does not hold deposits, process vessel purchases, or act as an escrow provider.
